While many of us have worries of some sort or other in our lives we dont
spend an unnecessarily large amount of time thinking about them. On the other
hand people who constantly worry over anything and everything may be suffering
from GAD otherwise known as generalized anxiety disorder. As with other types of
anxiety disorders generalized anxiety disorder symptoms must be identified
properly by a qualified medical practitioner before you can receive proper treatment.
The sufferer of generalized anxiety disorder will live in a chronic and
exaggerated state of worry and tension most of the time. The extreme emotions of
GAD may arise even if there is nothing happening to provoke these feelings.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder symptoms can also induce the sufferer to be always
anticipating disaster. In this type of situation the source of the danger is
somewhat difficult and hard to pinpoint.
One
who is a sufferer of general anxiety disorder may also worry about the lack of
panic attacks, social phobia, separation anxiety, and obsessive compulsive
disorder and so on. He or she may even gain a large amount of weight as a result
of the suffering.Symptoms of
general anxiety disorder must run for a few days at a time and continuously
recurring for a period of at least 6 months before one can say for sure that one
is suffering from general anxiety disorder. It is only with this level of
observations that doctors can safely prescribed medications to help combat the
suffering.
The physical symptoms inherent to generalized anxiety disorder must also be
present within the same six month time period that your other generalized
anxiety disorder symptoms are present. These can be feelings of being keyed up,
restlessness, tiredness or fatigue and difficulty concentrating. Symptoms can
also include a tendency for your mind to go blank, irritability, tension, and
disturbed sleep patterns.
These are perhaps the early warning symptoms of GAD. Other types of
generalized anxiety disorder symptoms are excessive amounts of anxiety and
worry. These feelings can persist for many days up to a few months. The chronic
anxiety and worry can occur due to any event or activity that you will be
participating in. These feelings of worry are difficult to control for the GAD
sufferer.
There are
many signs and symptoms that can point one in the direction of knowing that one
is indeed suffering from
generalized anxiety disorder. Therefore, when one
suspect that one is suffering from it, take note of the symptoms and recognize
the fact that you are suffering from it and seek medication so that you may be
cured of it as soon as possible.
